Our Story

Only Humans
Can Become Saints

David was a man after God’s own heart (2 Sam 13:14). David royally messed up, just like us. However, he repented and turned back to God.
He prayed, “Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew in me a steadfast spirit” Psalm 51:10.

Our Founding Story

The spirit
is willing,
but the flesh
is weak.

We witnessed something remarkable happening in ministries, seminaries, and Catholic Universities: genuine renewal, deep encounter, real interior transformation. But like Jesus said in Matthew 13, the thorns and rocky ground starved the seeds when they returned home.

We found ourselves spending more evenings than we could count on the phone, navigating the rocky ground and weeds of human life. Relational Baggage, Anxiety, Wayward Desires, Bad Habits… We didn’t have enough time to support our families and mentor everyone who called.

"How do we answer this call to mentor, while also answering the call to family life?"

What we initially saw as a time problem, became an invitation to do more. We had both been mentoring separately; friends, old classmates, coworkers, and even our friend’s friend’s boyfriend that were told we could help. We kept arriving at the same conviction: that a revival in Catholic families has to start with deep human formation. We were called to give more than just our free time, so taking the leap of faith, we partnered to start Steadfast Life.

Steadfast Life isn't a platform or a content brand. It's a practice where both mentor and client strive to be like Jesus, to live the virtues, according to Church teaching, and pratical wisdom.

"

The heart is the dwelling-place where I am, where I live; according to the Semitic or Biblical expression, the heart is the place "to which I withdraw." The heart is our hidden center, beyond the grasp of our reason and of others; only the Spirit of God can fathom the human heart and know it fully. The heart is the place of decision, deeper than our psychic drives. It is the place of truth, where we choose life or death. It is the place of encounter, because as image of God we live in relation: it is the place of covenant.

Hi! I am a Michigan native who is married to my beautiful bride Hannah with 3 children. I love to read, enjoy a good cigar with friends, and anything that involves a ball and competition. One time I spent over an hour trying to bounce a tennis ball off of a specific spot on the wall which led to me missing the spot and breaking my mom’s window. As a family we enjoy dance parties, water pong with mini solo cups, taking walks, and driving halfway across the country to see family.

While I was raised Catholic, my wayward desires led me away from the faith for brief periods. Turns out even if I wanted to be like God without God, I couldn’t bring myself to ignore the truth of His existence. I love grappling with inconsistencies and what many take for granted, which honestly is what kept me in the faith.

I deeply desire to know the meaning of things, not just whatever meaning I can ascribe to it. My prayer life really began in earnest when I was 14 and found myself engrossed in the gospel of Matthew for an hour without realizing it. I am excited to share with you what I have learned (and continue to learn)about prayer, virtue, living as a husband and father, and staying close to Jesus in the midst of ordinary life.

Hello Hello! 👋

My family bounced around quite a bit growing up, but I officially matured in the great state of Georgia. These days I live in Minnesota with my wife Sally and our son.

In our spare time we love going on family walks, playing card games, guitar, and board games that have questionable rule interpretations(ought to be able to stack +2's in Uno). My favorite food is, hands down, whatever Sally is cooking... I married up and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I stay active playing frisbee, soccer, spikeball, and anything else that involves chasing a ball or diving dramatically. My only real fitness goal is to still be able to take on my kids in a wrestling match when I’m 60.

I had the privilege of being introduced to a deep life of prayer when I was 12, and it’s brought abundant fruit to my life. I’m happy to share what I’ve learned (and am still learning) about prayer, virtue, and life in Christ.

Our Principles

The beliefs that
drive everything we do.

Grace builds on nature but nature presupposes Grace.

Prayer is the essential building block of life, because apart from God we can do nothing. That being said we all know the experience of trying to pray our problems away. We believe that we are called to co-create the life we were made to live.

Authentic Encounter changes people. Mere ideals do not.

You already know that you are struggling. What you need is someone in your corner: someone who knows your story, notices your patterns, and helps you take the next step with more clarity and less fear.

Virtue is not a behaviour complex.

It can be easy to think that being virtuous means performing well. True virtue means desiring the good, doing the good, and knowing the good. The virtuous person no longer has to fight with themself to be happy.

Holiness is not the avoidance of sin. It is the pursuit of The Good.

You are not here just to cope with life. The bar is high: the full stature of Christ. And you were made to reach it. We believe that mentorship better enables people to do that.
